I have question, love the download by the way. How do you make the spinning cars for that. I know there is a oval thingie that you place the cars on, but how do you get the cars? They are unavalible on community lots. Its it a rezone or something? Thanks in advance!!

I think once you put the oval thing, the cars become available for lot placement.

You can only "buy" cars if you have purchased the community lot as a business in OFB. Then, you need to click on one of the options in the upper-right corner. I think it's the pricing tab, but I'm not sure. It might be one of the other tabs. Experiment until you find the right one. Then and only then will cars be enabled for "purchasing" in your game. You will then be able to place cars onto the round-a-bouts.

I found this article here: www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Selling_Cars#Car_DealershipsCar Dealerships These work just like a retail shop, only you'll be selling vehicles rather than normal stuff. If you're trying to set up an owned community lot by visiting it with your sim, you may find making a car dealership tricky since you can't buy the cars. Click the Business Build Tools button on the business control panel and then the Toggle Wholesale Mode button. You'll now find you can purchase cars for your lot. A few things to keep in mind when running a dealership: • You'll notice that you can only place Maxis cars on that ridiculously huge rotating display, but if you use moveObjects on you can place them anywhere you like. • Custom car meshes seem to work just fine in a car dealership, but you won't be able to place them on the rotating display, even with moveObjects on. Some users have reported that putting custom car meshes on the ground, then onto the display works. • Patrons will try to stand alongside a car and look at its back left tire to consider purchasing it. Make sure they have access to this area or they'll complain. • To prevent sims from bumping into one another and clogging up, make sure you leave at least one empty tile of space between each car and the next. This will also make it easier for your employees or played sims to sell to your patrons even if more than one sim is in the aisle between the cars. The only reason why I am bringing this up again because I made a 50's diner with the car spinner thing and was still having trouble getting the cars. This except explains is well. Thank Nik for your insight.

This is a great reference Babyharp, thank you for sharing it with us! The other way you can have cars on the lot is to build your dealership then use the cheat changelotzoning residential add your cars and then change back with the cheat changelotzoning commercial.

babyharp,
Now that you've posted that article, I remember having to do all of that with Sim City Motors. I placed two of the Hunka sportscars onto the roundabouts and then also used "moveobjects on" to place other cars onto the lot in the parking spaces. I didn't have any customers stomping their feet, so I must have allowed one empty square between each car. I haven't actually played Sim City Motors since OFB was the new EP, so I'm sort rusty. I guess I should have one of my Sims purchase that lot and check it out!
Best Regards, Nik
